As a 21st century insolvency lawyer, I expect to learn more about recent developments in different jurisdictions worldwide – namely, how breakthrough trends and technologies as Blockchain, smart- and DigiContracts and cryptocurrencies influence the global market. As always, I expect to find the most inspirational part of my work at this year’s Congress – people. Young, passionate, creative, smart and definitely fun enough for such traditional job as a lawyer – people of AIJA are the best reason to visit Brussels this year.

I am looking to meet professionals from various parts of the world with common areas of interest and also interact with professionals from new areas of practice, to understand the nuances of legal profession and practice in different jurisdictions.

I am very much interested in learning about the perspective of my international colleagues in terms of foreign investment exchange, especially in light of important political events (eg. Brexit, Trump-trade war), and find to what extent this shift in politics is truly perceived as a potential game changer in the legal practice.

In Brussels, I hope to gain insight in different aspects of globalisation and how they influence our clients’ world and our work as lawyers. It is a broad theme and I expect it allows for many interesting discussions on what is a very real aspect of our lives. What better way than to debate this global development than within the setting of quintessentially global AIJA? Apart from that, I hope to see my old friends and meet many new!
